Via Dolorosa, XIth Station of the Cross

Writer's picture: Emahoy TM GebruEmahoy TM Gebru

A composition for the organ written by Emahoy Tsege-Mariam Gebru in 1972, performed by University Organist Annette Richards at Cornell's Sage Chapel as part of a two-day symposium by Thomas Feng titled, "Emahoy Tsege-Mariam Gebru at 100."

Via Dolorosa in Emahoy's own words: "Jesus is nailed to the Cross. Music inspired by the Way of the Cross as a whole. Our Lord Jesus Christ, being the Greatest of the great, humbled Himself till death for love of mankind. On that day of the Crucifixion even heaven and earth mourned their Creator: darkness covered the land... the earth trembled... the veil of the Temple was torn in two... but the death of Jesus Christ was only to defeat the angel of death and give us eternal life on the day of Resurrection."
